ABOUT ME

I updated my layout! I must admit I am pretty pleased with myself. I had to do something because I actually have a follower now. HAHA! Yes, that's right, 1. So, now I am not only writing to myself. There is actually someone else reading this!

I guess I need to introduce myself to my one follower, because I realize the whole time I've been doing this whole blog thing, I've really never done that.. I guess I assumed no one else would care to read. Here goes, for my one follower & anyone else who is reading this:

By now, you have probably figured out my name is Kelsey. I am 23 years young. My husband & I have been married since March 15, 2008. My hubby's name is Karl & he is 32 years young. No, that was not a typo, he is 32. I have always considered myself to be mature for my age. Sure, sure, I can be a bit of a goofball, but I have never quite been on my peers' levels. Plus, he is a goofball & kind of immature sometimes, so it evens out.

I have 3 siblings, all brothers. I don't talk to my oldest brother-my father's son, not mom's-(who is 11 years older than me) & he will probably never be mentioned here unless I am talking about things from my childhood that I wish I could forget. I do get along with my other brothers, one is 5 years older than me & one is 7 years younger. The 16 year old has a mild form of Autism, as well as other mental/emotional conditions. There was never a dull moment when I lived with him!

My parents were married (although maybe not happily) until recently when they separated. I guess they are still, legally, married. My mom takes care of my younger brother & her mother, my grandmother. I admire her so much. She is really a strong woman and a wonderful mother. I can only hope that when my husband and I finally have children that I can be the type of mother that she has been to me. She has maintained the right balance between parent & friend.

My relationship with my dad, however, has been less than perfect. He is a "reformed" alcoholic, you know, the ones that tell you your going to hell for everything you do. I love him to death! He really tries to be a good person & a good father, I respect him for it. I guess he couldn't help his father was a bastard! Ultimately, I think that's the reason he is the way he is.. but enough about that, let's talk about me some more!

I was diagnosed with PCOS @ 17. I didn't realize the impact it would have on me. The doctor told me it would be harder for me to have children than the average woman, but at 17, you really don't comprehend what that means. I wasn't in a serious relationship; I had no idea in 3 short years I'd meet the love of my life! I didn't think about how this would effect me in the long run. It has been one thing after another!

I'm overweight. I'm insulin resistant (which is part of the reason I'm overweight). I have high cholesterol. I have a few things going against me right now. My husband is overweight as well. We are probably each at least 80lbs overweight.

Hmm... what else? Well, I just love babies! Nothing would make me happier than to be a mother. So.. that's it, I think. Any questions?

Cleaning

Well, last night I started cleaning the house. Since my mom in law moved out, I have been trying to make things more like OUR home & not the home we share with someone else. Don't get me wrong, I miss my MIL terribly; I really do think of her as a second mother. She is very special to me. But I was ready to see what it was like finally having the house to ourselves. It has been interesting. I miss Ms. Carol, but I feel like we are closer to really having a little family, just by living by ourselves.

So, I started scrubbing the toilet out of the blue. If you don't know me personally then you may not know why this is so astounding. I am not a very tidy person. As a matter of fact, I'm really quite a slob. I try not to be, but I can't help it! I guess it is sort of a rebellion I have been accustomed to carrying out for some time now. My mom was always cleaning when I was growing up! Nothing was ever clean enough! I love her to death, don't get me wrong! I guess I am just a little too lazy to keep up with her..lol!

Anyways, last night I scrubbed the toilets. Today, I am going to finish taking the wallpaper border off of the walls of the master, which will soon be our room. I think I might also finish cleaning both bathrooms, maybe scrub the bathtub. What has gotten into me? The swine flu maybe? Oh no. I do work at a pharmacy. We have been filling lots of Tamiflu. That must be it; I'm getting sick!

OFF FOR 4 DAYS!

I AM SO EXCITED! I am off for 4 whole days! Yes, I had to work for 9 days straight to get to these days off, but they are going to be soooo worth it! Maybe we can get to some BD'ing down that I am not super worn-out.

I completed day 10 of Provera yesterday. Any sign of AF? Of course not! I know, I know, I have to wait 7 days before I can write her off, but I know my body! I'm going to have to get another shot. I really need to lay off the sugar.

I bought a Full Bar today & some Special K protein shakes. I am trying to convince myself to go on a diet. It's just so hard. I quit smoking cold turkey more than 5 months ago. That was easy compared to this eating right thing. I mean.. I tell myself "Okay, pack your lunch." I pack it & bring it to work & I'm all proud of myself because I have made myself a ham & cheese sandwich (no condiments), packed a bag of pretzels & a fruit (orange, strawberries, etc). But as soon as someone says they are going to go to McDonalds or Taco Bell or Burger King, I forget all about the diet. Pshh.. I have absolutely no will power. ZERO! I just guess I need to keep thinking about those little babies I want & how much I need to change my eating habits in order to get pregnant and maintain a healthy pregnancy.

Ughhhhh.. DAMN YOU FOOD! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO GOOD & SO BAD AT THE SAME TIME?!

Whoops! Sorry, I haven't written in a while! I guess we really haven't been trying since we know we are going to start Clomid soon. Plus, I am having problems with my cycle.

So, we went the doctor on Aug 20. It was exciting! Karl came with me. The doctor came in and we were talking about how long my husband and I have been trying to have a baby. I have actually been trying since we got married (lol!). But we have really been trying for several months now. I have known since I was 17 that I ovulate spontaneously and irregularly. I have irregular periods. Actually, for the past few months the only cycles I have been having are cycles I've had to take meds to induce.

I had to get a shot to start my last cycle & it seems like it may be the same way this cycle. I really need to start eating better! That's probably why I have been having such a hard time starting.

My husband was given a cup & told how to collect his sperm & where to bring it. I was told once I started I needed to call and set an appt up anywhere from cycle day 7 to 12 to have a procedure done to look at my tubes. As long as my husband & I both check out okay with our individual procedures, we will start Clomid next month! YAYYYYYYYY! I was semi-disappointed. I had assumed that I would start Clomid this month. But I do understand why we have to wait. I would hate to finally get pregnant only to find out I have an ectopic pregnancy & have that whole thing to deal with.. or to find out Karl has a low sperm count & that's contributing to our problems. I am really glad my OBGYN is so thorough. She also said that she wouldn't be offended if after we got everything checked & we felt things were going to slowly, if we decided to go to the fertility specialist down the hall. I really like the fact that she seems to know everything I am feeling! She is really wonderful. I am glad she will be on my side helping me do the best that I can to get pregnant & have a healthy pregnancy & baby.

I just hope that I can get pregnant soon after Clomid like my mom did.. I don't know if I can handle years of trying. I am already about to pull my hair out!

PCOS panel

Well, I was told to get my blood drawn for a Progesterone level test on cycle day 21. I got my results today. The nurse called & said that according to the results, I didn't seem to ovulate & the doctor thinks I'm anovulatory. Okay.. I pretty much figured that, considering I have PCOS. Even though they know I have it, they want to do a PCOS panel of blood work on me because the OBGYN that I go to did not actually diagnose my PCOS & I guess she wants to see how it all looks for herself. That's fine. I am glad she is this interested in finding out all of the details. They also wanted to do an insulin test (the 2 hour test). I told her I had that done last year & said I would get my PCP to send it over, I am not getting that done again until it is absolutely necessary.

So.. let's see how it goes..
